This is World Series trophy designed the same as given to the players celebrating the 1998 World Series victory against the San Diego Padres. A gold colored band reading "WORLD SERIES CHAMPION NEW YORK YANKEES 1998” is mounted on a 2 ½-inch tall, 7-inch diameter wooden base. Atop the black base, a gold-colored band has a silver-colored baseball at its base and a crown figure at the top. Proudly standing at the front of the display are Yankees and Padres press pins representing the two World Series teams. Surrounding the base are 30 gold-colored flags which, in alphabetical order, bear the names of each Major League team. Beginning with Anaheim on the left side and Arizona on the N.L. side, the flags gradually ascend in size from 5 ½ to 9 3/8 inches, and the trophy measures almost 12 inches tall overall and weighs almost six pounds. The trophy shows just light wear from age and display and is an impressive piece representing the first of three consecutive Yankees World Championships.
