Returning to San Francisco where it all began, McCovey started the 1977 season with 465 career home runs, the most of any active player at the time. Though he was 39, McCovey played like a man 15 years younger, hitting 28 homers including one monster game in which he smacked two in the same inning! He was the National League’s Comeback Player of the Year and ended the season just seven homers shy of the 500 mark. The Hillerich & Bradsby M110L model bat shows good use with a chipped handle. The barrel shows several ball marks with stitch impressions along with bat rack paint streaks and cleat impressions. There is a moderate coat of pine tar on the handle. McCovey’s iconic number “44” handwritten on the handle completes this Hall of Famer gamer. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (D63177) for the game use.
