This bat is an excellent example of why Rod Carew has a plaque hanging in the Hall of Fame. At the age of 36 and 37, when most players are comfortably playing golf or on the rubber chicken talking circuit, Rod Carew was posting the kind of career numbers he was famous for. Playing for the California Angels, Carew hit .319 with 30 extra base hits in 1982 and the 37-year-old followed that up with .339 the next year. The 7-time batting champ would finally hang up his spikes in 1985 with a lifetime .328 average. Carew’s 1982-83 Louisville Slugger F147 model bat shows moderate use and is un-cracked. There are several ball marks and scuffs on the barrel along with many cleat imprints and abrasions from contact with other equipment. The handle has a light coat of pine tar and the knob end has Carew’s number “29” in black marker. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18192) for the game use and has been graded a solid GU 8.
