There may not be a more iconic image in boxing history than Muhammad Ali standing over top of Sonny Liston after knocking him out with a first-round right hand on May 25, 1965 during a heavyweight title fight in Lewistown, Maine. The picture has been displayed thousands of times, but never like this. Ali signed this brilliant 20x24-inch canvas painting in bold, black Sharpie in the bottom left corner with the inscription “The Greatest of all Time.” The beautifully rendered painting highlights Ali with a spotlight glowing overhead, making him the obvious focal point of the work. Liston is portrayed in great detail as well, as his name is etched in white writing on the left leg of his trunks as he lies in the ring. The signed painting comes with a full LOA from JSA, who have deemed the inscription was written in Ali’s hand.
