Offered in this lot is a statuette of a rugby player made by the French artist Fernand Coffin for the 1924 Paris Summer Olympics. The statuette is titled “Le Rugby” and is part of a series by Coffin depicting various Olympic sports, including tennis and boxing. This statuette is painted with a blue jersey, white shorts, and red socks, echoing the French uniforms at the time. While the paint exhibits some cracking, it still presents beautifully and vividly. Etched on the statuette’s pedestal is “Coffin” and a plaque attached to the 3 ¾ x 4-inch base reads “Le Rugby”. This item measures approximately 11 inches tall. This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
