The Hall of Fame center Frank Gatski wore this blue Detroit Lions home jersey in his final NFL season of 1957. The former Marshall standout played his first 11 NFL seasons with the Cleveland Browns, winning four titles in the AAFC and three in the NFL with Cleveland. Gatski helped lead the Lions to the 1957 NFL title by blocking for running backs John Henry Johnson and Howard “Hopalong” Cassady for Frank Wilson’s 8-4 Lions. Detroit defeated the San Francisco 49ers in the first round of the playoffs before demolishing the Browns 59-14 in the title game. Gatski was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985
This blue Lions home jersey is long-sleeved, with Gatski’s number “52” sewn on the chest, back, and shoulders in silver tackle twill. A buttoned crotch strap is present on the jersey. Sewn in the jersey is a washing instructions tag, a Lippman’s Detroit tag, and a Rawlings size “50” tag. An “H” swatch is sewn in the jersey. This historic Hall of Famer’s final season jersey comes with a LOA from PMG.
