Offered is an outstanding example of the huge and very rare 13" x 28-1/2" plush, fringed rugs that were available as tobacco premiums in the early 1910s. The rug has a clear "FATIMA CIGARETTES" brand stamping on the reverse. The enormous flannel beauty is essentially uncirculated, but even that description cannot fully convey the measure of the brilliant colors that remain as fresh as the day the piece was woven. The Navy pennant and the school's goat mascot project marvelously, and the delicate fringes at the rug's ends are completely intact. A gorgeous representative of this large-size tobacco premium issue!
