In 1998 Frank Thomas banged out 29 home runs. Thomas wound up his career as a member of the exclusive 500 Home Run Club and became the first Designated Hitter to be elected to Cooperstown. Before becoming a full-time DH, Thomas manned the first base corner and in 1998 he wore this Wilson A2800 model fielder’s glove. This all-black glove is made of Wilson’s top-grade black tanned steerhide with tanned rawhide laces and nylon stitching. The webbing of this glove is a pro style Triple T-Bat Web and there is an adjustable wrist strap with a finger hole on the closed back. The manufacturer’s label has been removed and replaced with a Reebok label on the back of the finger sleeves and a “BIG HURT” logo is on the back of the thumb. The A2000 is covered by a single piece of leather. This glove displays substantial game use with even wear shown on the pocket, web face and the body. The back edge of the fingers shows scuffing. Thomas has signed his name in silver marker on the outer thumb and inscribed “35” and “”Big Hurt””. This glove comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1G00611) for the game use and a LOA from JSA for his signature.
