Powered by future Hall of Famers Bob Gibson and Lou Brock, the 1964 St. Louis Cardinals finished the regular season first in the National League with a record of 93-69. Brock led the team with a stellar .348 batting average while also stealing 33 bases. Ken Boyer led the Cards with 24 home runs and 119 runs batted in. On the mound, Gibson won 19 games while posting a rotation-best 3.01 ERA and 245 strikeouts. Ray Sadecki led St. Louis by winning 20 games, to go along with a 3.68 ERA. The Cardinals went on to defeat the New York Yankees, in seven games, to win the World Series.

Presented here is a Balfour 14K gold 1964 St. Louis Cardinals World Series championship ring that was presented to Nelson Burbrink. Burbrink was a former Major League player with the St. Louis Cardinals and later would be a scout for the team after his playing career was over. Burbrink was a longtime scout for St. Louis, the New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers. This ring featuring a round diamond set on a large red colored stone. “ST. LOUIS CARDINALS WORLD CHAMPIONS” reads around the bezel setting in relief work. One side of the ring displays the Cardinals birds perched on a bat logo along with the letter “C”, with the St. Louis Arch in the background. The year “1964” appears at the top. The opposite side displays images of crossed bats and a baseball.  Inside the band is marked “BALFOUR 14K” and includes an engraving of the name “Nelson Burbrink”. This ring weighs approximately 34.1 grams and is an approximate size 11. This ring comes with a letter of provenance from the family of Nelson Burbrink, whose ring has been in the family’s possession since his passing in 2001.
