Offered is a framed display of an original concept sketch by the noted sports artist, Steve Sax, for his large-scale 3D mixed media and paint on board artwork, “Babe Ruth Called Shot.” Sax created the painting for an exhibit at the Baseball Hall of Fame. The 9 x 12-inch illustration on tan drawing paper shows a cartoon-style image of Babe Ruth at the left side, right index finger raised in the air, while a catcher and umpire look on from behind. The sketch is in black and light blue graphite pencil, with instructions for the finished piece inscribed in black graphite. Sax has signed the sketch in black pencil in the lower right corner. The sketch is mounted in a tan cardboard matte with light blue border, above a 4 x 5-inch color postcard image of the finished artwork. The sketch and postcard are displayed in a 14 x 24-inch black wood and glass frame.
