Philadelphia 76ers All-Star point guard Ben Simmons led the team to victory in a riveting Game 6 of the 2019 Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Toronto Raptors. The second-year Aussie scored 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting as the Sixers won 112-101 at the Wells Fargo Center to send the series to a deciding seventh game. Simmons, an All-Star for the first time in 2018-19, added eight rebounds and six assists as Jimmy Butler’s 25-point night and Joel Embiid’s double-double backed up the versatile point guard’s big game.
Simmons, the first overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft, improved across the board after winning the Rookie of the Year award in 2017-18. The former LSU Tiger scored 16.9 points per game, with averages of 8.8 rebounds and 7.7 assists pushing the Sixers to a 51-31 record and the Eastern Conference’s third seed. Philadelphia averaged 115.2 points per game with Simmons leading the offense, the fourth-highest figure in the NBA.
