Presented is a handwritten and signed letter from Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States. Roosevelt has written his letter in black pen on a 7 x 9¾-inch white paper letterhead in blue printing “Oyster Bay, Long Island, N.Y.” to his wife’s in-law who was hoping for an appointment as a Chaplain the United States Army during the first World War. Roosevelt has signed the letter, “With very real regrets, I am fraternally yours, Theodore Roosevelt”. Atop the letter is pasted a 2 x 7-inch white typewritten cut explaining the provenance of the letter; the pasted cut is faded brown with age. The letter is in very good condition, with no tears or discoloration, and was folded in thirds. This item comes with a LOA from JSA.
