Pie Traynor was the first third baseman inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame by the BWAA, an honor he earned by compiling a sterling .320 batting average over his 17 seasons of service for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Although Traynor only cracked the 10 home run mark once, he compiled seven seasons of more than 100 RBI, and was a master of the sacrifice hit. A two-time All-Star, Traynor was named the best third baseman of all-time during baseball’s centennial celebrations in 1969.
This offered Official National League Warren Giles stamped baseball features the signature of Pie Traynor. Traynor signed his name in a blue fiber-tipped marker on the side panel adjacent to the stamped sweet spot. His signature runs along the red stitching and is solid in strength. As noted in the JSA LOA, there is evidence of signature removals but the ball has an incredible eye appeal and appears as a single singed baseball however. The ball is in NM/MT condition, displaying only very slight toning. This ball comes with a LOA from JSA (BB33557).
