Besides being one of the few bright spots on the 1960s Cubs team, Ron Santo was a model of consistent excellence. From 1965 to 1968, the 4 years he was swinging this bat, Santo won the Gold Glove Award and made the All-Star team each season. He averaged .286 and banged out 120 home runs as well as leading the league in walks three time. His positive attitude as a player endeared him to the Cubs fans and his popularity only grew after his playing days when he became the team's announcer. Santo’s 1965-1968 Hillerich & Bradsby S2 model bat is un-cracked and displays heavy use. Very slight checking from repeated ball contact is found on the back barrel and many ball marks with stitch impressions are visible on all sides of the bat. Cleat imprints are clustered on the right and back barrel and green bat rack paint streaks abound. The handle has been scored by Santo to enhance his grip and the knob has the model number “S2” stamped into it with his famous number “10” written in faded black marker. A museum-worth bat with everything you want in a Hall of Fame gamer. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B03520) for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9.5.
