This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2020
Offered in this lot is a soccer ball used during the 1930 FIFA World Cup semifinal matchup between the United States and Argentina in Montevideo’s Estadio Centenario. Argentina advanced to the first FIFA World Cup Final with a decisive 6-1 victory over the Stars and Stripes, getting two goals apiece from Carlos Peucelle and Golden Boot winner Guillermo Stabile. Luis Monti and Alejandro Scopelli scored Argentina’s first two goals, while Jim Brown scored a consolation goal for the United States in the 89th minute. The offered soccer ball is dark brown and shows good signs of use. The ball is laced. This is a historic artifact from the inaugural FIFA World Cup in Uruguay!
