Offered is an original sports/editorial cartoon by newspaper artist Ken Haag capturing career highlights for former Minnesota Twins pitcher Jim Kaat. The artist, from St. Paul, Minnesota, depicts Kaat in gray graphite pencil at the end of a pitch in his home Minnesota Twins uniform in the center of the 11 x 14-inch white paper page. A silhouette of a black cat is in the right margin, while a gray graphite pencil cat is illustrated in the lower right pulling fish labelled with the names of other American League teams out of a fishbowl. Haag has drawn captions in black ink in the upper right, center right, and bottom center, dating this editorial cartoon to the 1966 Major League Baseball season. Kaat’s best season was in 1966, when he won a league-leading 25 games, finished fifth in the MVP voting and was named the American League Pitcher of the Year by The Sporting News.
