The assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas reverberated throughout the globe, and the infamous event remains the object of universal fascination. Shortly after Kennedy was shot, Lee Harvey Oswald was brought into custody and charged with his assassination. The following day, as Oswald was being escorted through the basement of Dallas Police Headquarters that was taking him to an armored car that would take him to the nearby county jail, Jack Ruby, a local Dallas nightclub owner, gunned down Oswald in front of a throng of people and in front a live broadcast from NBC. James R. Leavelle was the homicide detective who was escorting Lee Harvey Oswald as the accused assassin was gunned down Ruby on November 24, 1963. These offered handcuffs are not the ones used to keep the presidential assassin in custody. These cuffs are silver and have three chains between them. The two keys are still with the cuffs and Leavelle has signed and inscribed each of them in black marker. One inscription reads “cuffed to Oswald” and the other inscriptions were penned “Dallas Texas” and “11/24/64”. Also included is the box the cuffs came in. This comes with a COA from JSA for the signatures.
