Offered in this lot is a medal from the 1962 FIFA World Cup, hosted by Chile. Brazil won their second FIFA World Cup title with a 3-1 victory over Czechoslovakia, getting goals from Amarildo, Zito, and Vava in Santiago’s Estadio Nacional. Chile earned third place in the World Cup, with a 90th minute goal from Eladio Rojas giving la roja a narrow 1-0 win over Yugoslavia.

This offered medal features a high relief etching of a soccer stadium, with “Campeonato Mundial De Futbol” and “Copa Jules Rimet Chile 1962” etched around the border. The other side of the medal has a high relief etching of Carlos Dittborn, the head of the 1962 FIFA World Cup organizing committee. Etched around the portrait in high relief is “Carlos Dittborn”. This medal is a historic and rare piece of World Cup history! This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
