Offered is a 69-card near set of R109 Gum, Inc. "Pirate Pictures" non-sports cards issued in the 1930s. The flavorful color images of this non-sport classic surely appealed to young Americans who have long been fascinated by the infamous pirates and their swashbuckling, seafaring lifestyle. It was that daring adventure which inspired Gum Incorporated to produce this series during the mid-1930s. Each well illustrated card showcases their buccaneer subjects in dynamic, richly colored renderings. Missing are the issue's three notorious short prints #'s 9, 34 and 59 for completion. Grades VG to VG/EX (few slightly nicer; few lesser).
