There is nothing more powerful than a pen to a United State president, as most every proposed bill and piece of Legislature passed must possess the signatures of the president himself.  This lot includes six pens from both Lyndon Baines Johnson and Richard Nixon that come from the collection of White House Barber, Steve Martini.  All of the pens come with white boxes that feature the presidential seal and facsimile signature of the President.  While some of the usages of these pens have been lost two time, there are two pens from Lyndon Baines Johnson that have typewritten notes with them.  The notes are commonly seen on pens used to sign documents from Johnson and is consistent with those examples.

The blue and silver pens feature a gold embossed facsimile signature of LBJ and read “The White House”.  One comes with a type-written note that reads, “One of the Pen’s Used by the President on September 22, 1966 in signing a proclamation entitled ‘Columbus Day 1966’”.  Another comes with a type-written note that reads, “One of the pens used by the President on June 12, 1968, in signing H.R. 15951, An Act to provide for uniform annual observances of certain legal public holidays on Mondays, and for purposes.”  In total there are four pens from Lyndon Johnson and two from Richard Nixon.  The lot is accompanied by a letter of provenance from Steve Martini Jr, son of renown White House Barber Steve Martini.
