The 1999 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, played in Boston’s Fenway Park, saw the American League defeat the National League by a final score of 4-1. A.L. starting pitcher Pedro Martinez threw two perfect innings, striking out five batters, to earn the victory and was also named the game’s Most Valuable Player. The game was also noteworthy for announcing the All-Century Team and when Ted Williams was announced and brought onto the field, the current all-stars all gathered around the Splendid Splinter to greet and shake his hand.
Offered here is a Jostens-manufactured 1999 Major League Baseball American League All-Star Game ring which was presented to Mel Stottlemyre, who was then the pitching coach for the New York Yankees. A single round CZ is set in the year “’99” as a large red colored stone serves as the background. “MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL ALL STAR” displays around the bezel setting. One side of the ring shows the images of a Red Sox logo and baseball field, while reading ALL-STAR GAME ’99 BOSTON”. Appearing on the opposite side is an image of the American League logo, underneath a “1912 FENWAY PARK” sign. The inside of the band, which shows some wear, is marked “AUR©JOSTENS”. This item is an approximate size 11 and weighs approximately 22.1 grams. This comes with a LOA from Mel Stottlemyre.
