Presented is Mickey Mantle’s personal cowboy hat, worn by the Hall of Fame New York Yankees centerfielder during the 1980s. Mantle’s “10-gallon hat” has an interior label from the United Hatters, Cap and Millinery Workers International Union on the orange silk sweat band. The hat is tan suede with a brown braided leather hat band. The leather hat band is broken at the bow on the left side. There are some signs of wear including liquid stains on the brim of Mantle’s cowboy hat, and the crown is slightly crushed from use and storage. One of the most loved, most famous and biggest hitters in baseball history, Mantle grew up in Commerce, Oklahoma and late in his life, was often seen in public wearing cowboy hats like the one presented here. This item comes with a LOA from Jake Zozzaro, owner of JayCee Limousine Service of Valley Stream, New York who was given this hat by Mantle, one of his long-time clients.
