Long before Bobby Cox would become the fourth winningest manager in major league history he was a slap-hitting third baseman with occasional power who hit .225 with nine home runs in 628 at-bats for the New York Yankees in 1968 and 1969. When his brief major league playing career was through Cox became a manager in the Yankees minor league system from 1971-1976 and was the Yankees first base coach under Billy Martin in 1977. Cox got good use out of this Hillerich & Bradsby G69 pro model bat which contains a heavy concentration of ball impressions, cleat marks, four rings of adhesive tape and pine tar on the handle that Cox appears to have tapered with a wood-plane. The model number is stamped into the knob and PSA/DNA sticker (#1B05840) is affixed to the end of the barrel; comes with full PSA/DNA letter of authenticity.
