Offered is a Connie Mack handwritten and signed letter, on American Base Ball Club of Philadelphia letterhead, in a framed display celebrating the long-time manager and owner of the Philadelphia Athletics. Mack has written a letter, dated February 26, 1944, referencing the upcoming spring training workouts in Frederick, Maryland. The handwritten letter, in black pen, is on a 7 x 8½-inch white cut of letterhead, which features the A’s logo of a white elephant poised atop a baseball with two crossing bats at the top, printed in black, and giving the Philly A’s mailing address for what became known as “Connie Mack Stadium” at “Twenty-First Street and Lehigh Avenue”. The handwritten and signed letter from Mack is mounted at the right of a 14½ x 22-inch brown paper matte, accompanied by a 7½ x 10-inch black & white portrait photograph of Mack in his customary suit and tie. Below the letter is a 2¼ x 8-inch gold metal plaque engraved in black with a caption summarizing Mack’s Hall of Fame career. The letter, portrait and plaque are displayed in a 17 x 25-inch engraved brown wood and glass frame. The longest-serving manager in Major League Baseball history, he holds records for wins (3,731), losses (3,948), and games managed (7,755), with his victory total being almost 1,000 more than any other manager. Mack managed the Philadelphia Athletics for the club's first 50 seasons of play, starting in 1901, before retiring at age 87 following the 1950 season, and was at least part-owner from 1901 to 1954. He was the first manager to win the World Series three times, and is the only manager to win consecutive Series on separate occasions (1910–11, 1929–30); his five Series titles remain the third most by any manager, and his nine American League pennants rank second in league history. This item comes with a LOA from Beckett Authentication, and the signature is graded GEM MINT 10.
