Julius Winfield Erving II, better known as “Dr. J” for his signature “slam” dunks, won three championships, four Most Valuable Player awards, and three scoring titles with the ABA’s Virginia Squires and New York Nets and the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers. In the 76ers’ 1982-83 season, Erving and Moses Malone became one of the most formidable and unstoppable center-forward combinations of all time as the Sixers dominated the whole season and eventually claimed the 1983 NBA title by sweeping the Los Angeles Lakers. “Dr. J” was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993 and was also named to the NBA’s 50th Anniversary All-Time Team.

Offered here is an incredibly rare red knit mesh Wilson Philadelphia 76ers road jersey that was worn by Dr. J circa 1979 where the Sixers were perennial title contenders. This size 42 jersey features “SIXERS” and his famous number “6” sewn on across the front in white and blue tackle twill. The collar and sleeve openings have a ribbed red, white and blue pattern. The Wilson size 42 and Pearson tags are sewn on the bottom front left tail. The back of the jersey has “ERVING” sewn on in white tackle twill above his number “6”, which is sewn on in white and blue tackle twill. The jersey is a rare “Dr. J” Sixers’ jersey with notched style sixes dating back to the late 1970’s. The jersey shows light to moderate wear and is a rare “Dr. J” Sixers’ jersey dating back to the late 1970’s making it a great item from one of basketball’s greatest players during Philadelphia’s era of dominance in the Eastern Conference. This game used jersey comes with a full LOA from MEARS (316489) for the game use and has been graded the highest grade offered by MEARS, an A10. Additionally, there is a LOA from PM&G for the game use.
