The friendly outfielder was the face of the Braves during their doldrum years. Through their decades long tour of the second division, Murphy was a perennial all-star and two-time NL MVP. This jersey, significant not only for it belonging to the Braves greatest player of the 1980’s, is also noteworthy in that is the first season Atlanta brought back their 1950’s style script and tomahawk design. It was in this glorious uniform that Murphy had his last great season as a Brave, hitting 44 homers and batting .295. The home white jersey shows moderate game use with staining in the collar area, a few snags and a loose thread here and there. “Braves” is scripted in the classic Warren Spahn-era style in magnificent red, navy and yellow tackle twill. Navy and red trip circles each sleeve and down the front and collar. Wilson label is sewn in the left front tail with added “44” and “4” X-LENGTH” tagging. “87” is embroidered on a white strip tag and sewn below the Wilson label. PSA/DNA sticker number U69467 is affixed to the label. The back features “MURPHY” in navy tackle twill sewn to a white name plate. His famous “3” in red and navy tackle twill is sewn below. Dale Murphy has signed the front of the jersey just below the business end of the tomahawk in strong black Sharpie. It’s an eye-catching jersey from the face of the franchise during the 1980’s. Letter of Authenticity from MEARS, with a perfect grade of A10.
