Quarterback Mark Rypien threw for 3,564 yards and 28 touchdowns, with his biggest targets being wide receivers Gary Clark (70 receptions, 1,340 yards, 10 touchdown) and Art Monk (71, 1049, 8). Running back Earnest Byner recorded 1,048 rushing yards. Defensively, Charles Mann led the team with 11.5 sacks. In the playoffs, Washington posted convincing victories over the Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions before defeating the Buffalo Bills, 37-24, to win the Super Bowl.
