Every opposing pitcher knew that facing the New York Yankees during the 2003 season would be an unpleasant experience, as the lineup was absolutely stacked with potent bats. Jason Giambi (41 home runs, 107 runs batted in), Alfonso Soriano (38 HRs, 114 runs scored, 35 stolen bases), Jorge Posada (30 HRs, 101 RBIs), Derek Jeter (.324 batting average) and Hideki Matsui (106 RBIs) provided plenty of offense in leading the Yankees to 101 wins and an AL East title during the regular season. Mike Mussina led the starting rotation with a 3.40 earned run average, while Mariano Rivera was his usual dominant self, recording an ERA of 1.66. New York defeated the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox to win the American League pennant, before falling to the Florida Marlins, four games to two, in the World Series.
Presented here is a 10K gold 2003 Derek Jeter New York Yankees American League championship replica ring, featuring the team’s famed top hat and bat logo displayed across the diamond-filled face. Additional colored stones help make up the hat. “YANKEES AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS” reads around the perimeter in relief lettering. A Yankees team logo centers one side of the ring, with “2003” above and “1903-2003” and “TRADITION” below. The opposite side features a large team’s “NY” coming out of their stadium, as “JETER” reads at the top and “PRIDE” at the bottom. This ring, marked “10K” inside the band, is an approximate size 10 ½ and weighs approximately 42.6 grams.
