New York Yankees ace Luis Severino wore this gray Yankees road jersey on May 7th, 2017, as the Yankees visited Wrigley Field for an interleague tilt with Jon Lester and the Chicago Cubs. Severino tossed a gem in New York’s 5-4 win, going seven strong innings while allowing one run, striking out nine, and walking only one batter. While a blown save by Aroldis Chapman prevented Severino from earning the win, and sent the game into extra frames, the Yankees plated the winning run in the top of the 18th inning with a Starlin Castro fielder’s choice to score Aaron Hicks.
Severino enjoyed a breakout year in 2017, making his first All-Star team with a 14-6 record and 2.98 ERA at season’s end. Still only 23 years old in 2017, Severino struck out 230 batters for a fantastic 10.7 strikeouts per nine innings. This offered Yankees road jersey is a gray button-down, with “NEW YORK” sewn across the chest in navy and white tackle twill. Severino’s number “40” is sewn on the back of the jersey in navy and white tackle twill below an MLB logo patch. A Majestic size “48” tag is applied to the front left tail of the jersey above a Yankees barcode tag. This jersey comes with a LOA from Yankees-Steiner (246549) and an MLB Authenticated hologram (JB747776).
