This bat was used by the Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis, Jr. during his very first season in professional baseball. That season, 2016, Tatis, Jr hit .273 for both the Arizona Padres of the Arizona Rookie League and the Tri-City Dust Devils of the Northwest League. Tatis’s pre-rookie Louisville Slugger C271 model bat shows heavy game use with a broken handle. A slice of wood from the handle is missing and the barrel is covered with ball marks with stitch impressions. There are several white leather ball scuffs and ink transfers present and the handle has been wrapped in a spiral of adhesive tape that has been removed. The bat’s specs are stamped into the knob and Tatis has signed the barrel in silver marker. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18687) for the game use and a LOA from Beckett Authentication (A23702) for the signature.
