Offered is a Charlie Grimm signature and inscription on an original black and white action photograph of the former Major League Baseball first baseman and manager. Grimm has signed his name and inscribed “1929” below his signature in black pen in the lower left corner of the photo, which captures the Chicago Cubs player throwing a ball from first base. The 10 x 13-inch photo is mounted on a 12 x 15-inch gray cardboard backing, which is inscribed “Grimm” in black pen in the upper left corner. Grimm played from July 1916 to September 1936 with first the Philadelphia Athletics, then the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cubs, and is best remembered for his time in Chicago. He later went on to manage the Cubs (1932-1938, 1944-1949), the Boston/Milwaukee Braves (1952-1956) and finished his career back at the helm of the Cubs for the 1960 season.
