Teams have become hesitant in signing pitchers to big contracts, but the one Max Scherzer signed with the Washington Nationals prior to the start of the 2015 season is looking like a bargain. Following the 2019 season, Scherzer has combined for a 79-39 record with Washington pitching to a 2.74 ERA, has won the National League Cy Young Award in 2016 and 2017, and led the Nationals to their first ever World Series title in 2019.

This Majestic size 48 Nationals’ road gray jersey was worn by Scherzer during the 2019 season and has been photo matched to the September 8th, 2019 game against the Atlanta Braves at SunTrust Field. Scherzer picked up his 10th win of the season in Washington's 9-4 victory, pitching six innings and striking out nine. This jersey has “Washington” and a paraph sewn on in red, navy and white tackle twill across the chest. Scherzer’s number “31” is sewn on the center left chest in the same red, navy and white tackle twill. Red/navy/red piping are around the collar and along the sleeve ends. The left sleeve has the Nationals’ logo patch, which is above the Majestic logo that is embroidered in navy, while the right sleeve has the vinyl “POSTSEASON 2019” patch and the “MLB 150” patch.

The back of the jersey has a rubberized MLB logo patch on the back collar, with “SCHERZER” and his number “31” sewn on in red, navy and white tackle twill. The Majestic Flex Base size 48 tag is screen-printed on the bottom front left tail, while an additional Majestic tag is screen printed vertically on the inside right-center front tail and has “#31 2019 48TC 745” markings.
