Rusty Staub spent the middle portion of his career with the New York Mets from 1972 through 1975. In those four seasons, Staub averaged 16 home runs and 74 RBI, while maintaining a solid .276 average. Offered here are two items dating to Staub’s first stint with the New York Mets in the 1970’s. The first item is a game used Adirondack 256B model bat from the 1971-75 seasons. This bat displays excellent game use with a handle rack that has been secured by glue. There are ball marks and other abrasion marks present on the barrel and Staub’s number “10” is handwritten in black marker on the knob. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18684) and has been graded a solid GU 8.
The second item is a game use New York Mets cap. This all-blue wool cap was made by New Era and is a size 7 5/8. The Mets’ interlocking “NY” is embroidered in orange on the front. Staub’s number “10” is handwritten black marker on the green underside brim. The inside had band is made of a brown soft plastic material and the New Era and size tags are sewn on the inside back. There is an MLB logo flag on the inside left. This hat displays moderate game use and comes with a LOA from J.T. Sports for the game use.
