Offered here is a collection of five game used bats from members the inaugural season of the Houston Colt .45’s who would later become the Houston Astros. The first bat is a Hillerich & Bradsby S2 model bat used by Merritt Ranew with a labeling period of 1961-63. This bat displays heavy game use and is un-cracked. There are ball marks present on the barrel. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18914) for the game use. The second bat was used by Norm Larker and is an Adirondack/Rawlings O115 model bat. This bat displays moderate game use with a crack on the handle that has been restored with nails. This bat has a labeling period of 1961-63 and has ball marks present on the barrel. This comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18915).

The next bat is a Hillerich & Bradsby K55 model bat that was used by Al Spangler. The bat has a labeling period of 1962-63, displays heavy game use and is un-cracked. There are ball marks and checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact on the back barrel that has been secured by nails. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18911) for the game use. The next bat has a labeling period of 1961-62 and was used by Jim Busby. Busby’s Hillerich & Bradsby K55 model bat displays heavy game use and is uncracked. There are ball marks and checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact on the barrel that has been secured by nails. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18913). The final bat was used by Hal Smith and has a labeling period of 1961-63. This bat is a Hillerich & Bradsby M117 model that moderate to heavy game use and has a crack on the handle. There are ball marks on the handle and this bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18912) for the game use.
