David Ortiz had announced that 2016 would be his final season and made his last All-Star Game appearance at the Mid-Summer Classic hosted by the San Diego Padres. Ortiz was making his 10th appearance in the All-Star Game and in his final plate appearance in the third inning, he drew a walk. Ortiz was then replaced by Edwin Encarnacion and was then greeted with a standing ovation from the San Diego crowd. Ortiz was presented with this offered footlocker as a gift for his many years and contributions to the game of baseball. This locker includes a pair of New Balance sneakers, a pair of white New Balance cleats, an American flag, a pair of sunglasses and a pair of headphones. The locker is green with the New Balance logo in white on the top and “PROPERTY OF NB BASEBALL BOSTON AS2016” printed in white on the side. On the inside cover is an elaborate display featuring a gold eagle with the New Balance logo and “D.ORTIZ” and to the right are the career stats and honors. This is a one-of-kind set as this was only made for David Ortiz. This comes with a sricker from the Estate sale of David Ortiz.
