Don Maynard will forever be remembered as Joe Namath's favorite target, and one of the cornerstones of the 1969 Jets team that defeated the Colts in Super Bowl III. However, that offers only a glimpse into the greatness of Maynard. Don Maynard finished his career with 633 receptions for 11,834 yards and 88 touchdowns. His 18.7 yards per catch is the highest for anyone with at least 600 receptions. He was rewarded for his efforts by with an induction into the football Hall of Fame in 1987 and by being one of only two players to have his number retired by the Jets (Namath being the other) We offer an incredibly rare and almost never seen 1969-72 vintage NY Jets game worn durene jersey (Jets road). Jersey is complete with a blood stain on the front, and an autograph on the back. Physical Examination: Examination of the inner jersey reveals that the stitching to the nameplate numerals (front, back, sleeves) are all original with no signs of restoration. Introduction to a black light reveals no foreign substances have been introduced. Game Wear: Jersey shows moderate game wear, with visible puckering to the outer edges of the numerals. . Customizations: The accompanying image verifies that Maynard cut his sleeves directly below the numerals and they had a tendency to curl in that area. Final Grade MEARS A10.
