Presented is an 180-piece complete set of B18 Blankets issued in 1914 plus a variation (Cavanaugh). This production is one of the most creative issues among all of the hobby's tobacco-related baseball collectibles. Distributed as inserts with several popular tobacco brands, these 5-1/4"-square felts were meant to be collected and sewn together to form a colorful blanket. For this reason they are fairly difficult to find in nice condition, as many were trimmed or subject to needle holes from stitching. This mid- to high-grade set is virtually free of these liabilities, and, overall, are clean and bright in appearance. Highlights include: Carey/Purple (EX), Carey/Red (EX), Cavanaugh/Brown (VG/EX), Chance/Brown (EX), Chance/Greem (VG/EX), Cobb/Brown (EX), Cobb/White (EX/MT), Gandil/Brown (EX), Gandil/Green (NM), Huggins/Purple (EX/MT), Huggins/Yellow (EX), Jackson/Purple (EX+), Jackson/Yellow (EX/MT), W. Johnson/Brown (EX/MT), W. Johnson/Green (EX+), Maranville/Brown (EX+), Maranville/White (EX/MT), Stengel/Blue (EX/MT), Stengel/Green (EX/MT), Wallace/Purple (EX/MT), Wallace/Red (EX), Wheat/Blue (EX/MT), Wheat/Green (EX/MT). The majority of the blankets fall in the EX to NM range (some lesser). We have not downgraded the blankets with paper remnants from their original packaging on the back as this is how they were issued and the paper could be excised if desired.
