Astronaut Alan Shepard was one of the first American in space, the fifth man to walk on the moon and was a part of several NASA missions including Apollo 14. He is also a direct descendant of famed Mayflower passenger Richard Warren, the 12th person to sign the Mayflower Compact! Shepard was also the first astronaut to hit golf balls on the moon, hitting two shots with feet firmly planted on the lunar surface. This Spalding golf ball is signed "Alan Shepard" boldly in black sharpie, contains an image of an astronaut playing golf and has a pre-printed inscription which reads, “First golf ball on the moon Feb. 6, 1971”. This is a tremendous item from one of NASA's early heroes, combining his fame as an astronaut with the passion for the game he loved to play. Full LOA from PSA/DNA, cert number T05493.
