The 1956 United States Men’s Basketball Team was led by Hall of Famer Bill Russell, whose 14.1 points per game average was the tops for the squad who went 8-0 and easily captured the Gold Medal in Melbourne, Australia. This offered ticket was for the Gold Medal Game played on December 1, 1956 at the Exhibition Building in Melbourne as the US took on the Soviet Union. Team USA defeated the Soviets 89-55 to capture the gold. This ticket is pink with “EXHIBITION BUILDING” printed on the top in black and “XVI OLYPIAD, MELBOURNE NOVEMBER 22-DECEMBER 8, 1956” printed on the bottom. The Olympic torch is in the center with “XVIth” and “1956” on each side of the torch. The right side of the ticket has an image of an analog clock with 8 a.m. and “BASKETBALL” below. Russell has signed this ticket in black marker across the Olympic rings and inscribed “1956 Gold”. This ticket has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA (26584802).
