Offered here is a baseball signed and inscribed by New York Yankees legendary center fielder Joe DiMaggio. Joltin’ Joe helped the Yankees transition out of the Ruth/Gehrig era into a new generation of excellence, winning nine World Series titles from 1936-1951. The son of a fisherman, Joe DiMaggio became an American icon through his play for the Bronx Bombers and his short-lived marriage to Marilyn Monroe. DiMaggio was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1955, and owns one of baseball’s greatest records, hitting safely in 56 consecutive games during the 1941 season. The Yankees retired his #5 jersey and Major League Baseball named him to their All-Century team.
This Official American League Gena A. Budig baseball has been signed by Joe DiMaggio across the sweet spot in bold blue pen. Below the sweet spot panel with DiMaggio’s signature is inscribed “56 in ‘41” and “HOF ‘55”, while the north panel has inscribed “#5 and “MVP ’39, ’41, ‘47”. The east panel with the Rawlings stamp has inscribed “.325 BA” and has the limited-edition “80/160” mark in black pen. The west panel with the “CUSHIONED CORK CENTER” stamp has inscribed “361 HRS”. The ball displays some toning, but is overall good condition and is one of the nicer Joe DiMaggio signed and inscribed baseballs offered. This comes with a LOA from JSA.
