The final game of the 1982 NCAA Basketball Tournament was a thrilling contest, featuring Michael Jordan and James Worthy’s North Carolina squad matching up against Patrick Ewing and the Georgetown Hoyas. It was the 19-year-old Jordan, not yet a superstar, who hit the game winning shot, rising from the left wing to finalize the score at 63-62 in favor of the Tar Heels. This is widely considered MJ’s launching point, the transformative event that put him on the path to becoming the greatest player in basketball history. This moment is captured in an 8 x 10 black and white photograph of a young Jordan launching the winning shot at the Superdome in New Orleans against Georgetown in 1982. Jordan has signed this image in bright gold marker. Below this image is a closeup color photograph of Jordan taking that winning shot and a panel that reads “Michael Jordan North Carolina Tar Heels TOTAL POINTS – 1,788 / TOTAL ASSISTS – 181 / TOTAL REBOUNDS – 509” and the “NC” logo. This piece comes in a beautifully matted and framed display and comes with a HOLO ONLY from Upper Deck Authenticated (BAA66663).
