The "Amazin’" Mets of 1969 shocked the baseball world when they first upended the Atlanta Braves in the first ever NLCS, then proceeded to trounce the heavily favored Baltimore Orioles in a five game World Series. This pin was distributed to members of the press covering the series in the Big Apple. The Shea Stadium gold depiction is sandwiched top and bottom with enameled Mets orange and blue. The terms “1969 WORLD SERIES NEW YORK METS” are within the two New York vintage baseball colors. The reverse is pristine, has the “BALFOUR” engraving and has the usual threaded post and nut system. There are a handful of light chips along the lower edge. Despite the 44 years since the Mets achieved the remarkable victory, this all original, very impressive pin remains in excellent condition.
