Already a star with the San Diego Padres, Dave Winfield earned super-star status when he joined George Steinbrenner's New York Yankees in 1981. His unprecedented contract made him the highest paid player in the game and he proved he was worth every cent when he batted .285 and hit 82 home runs over the next three years. This offered Louisville Slugger W273 model bat displays excellent game use and is un-cracked. This bat has been dated to use by Winfield during the 1980-83 seasons and the barrel shows many ball marks with stitch impressions along with cleat imprints and blue ink transfers. A light coating of pine tar is still present on the handle. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18549) for the game use.
