It was simply one of the most entertaining and gut-wrenching World Series of all-time. With the backdrop of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the 2001 World Series pitted the Arizona Diamondbacks against the New York Yankees. The teams fought tooth-and-nail to the very end with the home team winning every game. The series came down to the pivotal bottom of the ninth inning when Yankees’ closer and unanimous Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera showed he was human. With the Yankees up 2-1, the Diamondbacks scratched out two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game and the World Series.
Offered here is an “OFFICIAL BALL 2001 WORLD SERIES” stamped ball that was used during the historic Game 7 of the 2001 World Series. All of the stampings are in gold with the 2001 World Series logo on the side panel. This ball displays heavy game use with dirt stains and rub marks. This ball has been signed by Craig Counsell in blue pen on the panel with the World Series logo. This comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (GR095255), which authenticates this ball was used during Game 7 and signed by Craig Counsell at a private signing.
