Hall of Fame designate hitter Edgar Martinez had another fantastic year in 1996, producing a Triple Crown slash of .327/26/103 with 52 doubles and more walks than strikeouts. Martinez was named to the American League All-Star team. Martinez used this Rawlings 456B model bat during the 1996 season. This bat displays outstanding game use and has a crack on the handle. There are ball marks, stitch impressions, blue ink transfers and black bat rack streaks present on the barrel. The handle has been taped in a spiral pattern and covered with Mota Stick to enhance the grip. There is a heavy coating of pine tar on the upper handle/lower barrel area and the model number “456B” has been stamped into the knob. Also on the knob is Martinez’s number “11”, which has been handwritten in black marker, along with the bat’s weight “31.-“. Martinez has signed his name in blue marker on the barrel. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18994) for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9.5, plus a LOA from JSA for the signature.
