Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. A delightfully quirky and indisputably rare variation piece! Frank Campos, a Cuban outfielder seeking to make his mark with the Senators after a creditable record of achievement in the minors and in Havana, is depicted on this sought-after 1952 Topps example. Clearly, the factory devoted as much care to the construction of lesser-known players' cards as it did for those featuring the game's biggest stars, but an unusual "glitch" occurred at some point in the Campos production's portrayal: the red star situated to the right beside Topps' inscription line on the reverse has been over-inked in black. Although the card's subject and appearance are worthy, it's the out-of-place Black Star that will delight the specialist collector! Barely a hundred examples of this elusive variety have been formally sanctioned by the assignment of a PSA grade. Very Good to Excellent condition.
