Joining the Chicago Cubs in 1992, Sammy Sosa gradually developed into one of the NL’s premier home run hitters. Over the next six years Sosa gradually increased his home run tally, evolving into the feared slugger that would challenge baseball’s most hallowed record: the single-season home run record. This offered Rawlings 170B model bat was used by Sosa during the 1997 season. This bat displays excellent game use and has a crack on the handle. There are ball marks, stitch impressions and white leather scuffs present on the barrel. There is a light coating of pine tar on the upper handle/lower barrel and the lower handle and knob have been taped to enhance the grip. The bat’s model number “170B” is stamped on the knob and partially obscured by the tape. Sosa has signed his name in silver marker on the barrel and inscribed “#21” above his signature. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B19688) for the game use and has been given a high grade of GU 8, plus a LOA from Beckett Authentication (A31827) for Sosa’s signature.
