Hall of Fame Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Mike Schmidt entered the 1986 season at the age of 36 with 458 career home runs. Schmidt turned back the clock, pumping out 37 home runs to win the National League MVP for the third and final time and coming within five home runs of the prestigious 500 Home Run Club. Schmidt led the NL in both home runs and RBI (119) in 1986 and finished with a solid .290 average.

Offered here is the very Rawlings/Adirondack 154A model bat Schmidt used to hit career home run 469 during the 1986 season. For the 1986 season, this home run was number 11 of his soon-to-be NL high of 37. Schmidt hit career home run number 469 during the June 19th game against Greg Bargar of the Pittsburgh Pirates at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia to deep left field.

As one would expect, Schmidt’s bat displays excellent game use and has a slight crack on the handle. There are ball marks, stitch impressions and checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact present on the barrel. The bat’s model number “154A” along with the order number “148” and year “6” is stamped on the knob. Schmidt’s number “20” is handwritten in bold black marker on the knob and the bat’s weight “32” is handwritten in blue pen. Above the Rawlings trademark is handwritten in blue marker “469”, along with a blue dot below, indicating the career home run number. The top barrel has three marks. According to the game used experts at PSA/DNA “The manner in which the home run is noted, a marker bullet within the center brand with the career home run number, is a familiar Schmidt characteristic. Mike first started memorializing home run bats beginning with career home run number 400.” A great bat attributed to a specific home run from one of baseball’s all-time power hitters. This comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B19409) for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9.5.
