Philadelphia Phillies reliever Mitch Williams wore this 1948 Turn Back the Clock throwback uniform during the 1992 MLB season. Williams notched 29 saves for the Phillies in 1992, winning five games with a 3.78 ERA as the Phillies primary closer. An 11-year pro, Williams recorded 192 saves in his MLB career, including 102 with Philadelphia. The jersey offered in this lot is a white button-down, with “Phillies” sewn across the chest in red and blue felt. Williams’ number “28” is sewn on the back of the jersey, also in red and blue felt. Blue-red-blue stripes accent the sleeves and collar. A Russell size “48” tag is sewn on the front left tail. The jersey shows light wear.
Also included in this lot are Williams’ throwback pants and stirrups. The pants are white, with a blue-red-blue stripe running down each leg. A Russell size “34” tag and a “Williams 34-34-92 / Nostalgia Game” tag are sewn on the back inside waistband. The pants show light wear, including some staining and a small team repair. The stirrups offered in this lot are red, white, and blue, and in good condition. Finally, a Cooper Pro 100 Mitch Williams model bat is included in this lot. The bat is uncracked. Williams has signed the bat in black marker. The bat comes with a LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature, while the uniform comes with a LOA from noted baseball game used jersey expert William Henderson.
