After he retired from baseball Ty Cobb eased into a comfortable life due to his savvy stock market investments. Voted into the Hall of Fame as one of the original inductees and garnering the highest percentage of votes, Cobb spent his post-baseball days traveling, hunting and playing golf. This $15 “Settlement to date” check to a Mrs. Porter is dated Oct.
4, 1957 and is made out by Cobb in his trademark green ink. The check is encapsulated in a PSA/DNA holder and his signature “Tyrus R. Cobb” has been graded MINT 9. The flowing green signature is unaffected by the cancellation holes or bank stamps.
